The Lilac Bloomsday Run 12K route starts at W. Riverside Avenue between Post and Lincoln streets in downtown Spokane and finishes at Monroe Street Bridge over the Spokane River. Underfoot, expect paved city streets. It passes Spokane River, downtown Spokane, Greenwood Cemetery, Spokane Falls Community College and Doomsday Hill (Pettet Drive). Historically one of the world's largest road races, peaking at 61,298 participants in 1996 and routinely topping 38,000 runners from 1986 to 2020.
Gear check is limited to Corporate Cup participants, elite athletes (bib numbers under 500), and Senior Seed runners who purchased the amenities package; other participants must arrive ready to run. Downtown Spokane streets are closed for the race; parking is more limited on race morning due to street closures, and STA shuttle buses serve participants. Color-coded assigned-wave start (Elite/Corporate Cup, Yellow, Green, Orange, Blue, Lilac, Red groups starting in sequence). Nearly 30 bands and performers play live along the 12K course, covering rock, pop, punk, blues, bluegrass, ska, oldies and accordion.
