The free-to-enter eligibility drawing runs 17-29 September 2026, with selection on 1 October. Membership must be active by 11:59 p.m. ET on 16 September and remain active through drawing day. Applicants must be at least 18 on 5 November 2028. Selected applicants pay $99 including processing; race fees and marathon entry are additional.
Selected Passholders must complete nine qualifying NYRR races and one qualifying volunteer opportunity during 2027 and have active membership on 31 December 2027 to earn non-complimentary guaranteed entry to the 2028 marathon. The new Pass does not change the existing 2026 9+1 pathway to the 2027 marathon.
General entry closed at 17:00 JST on 28 August 2026 after opening at 11:00 JST on 14 August. Results are scheduled for 18 September. Selected applicants must pay between 11:00 JST on 18 September and 17:00 JST on 30 September; this payment period is not a new application window. Member, RUN as ONE and charity applications also closed earlier.

The random drawing for the 2027 marathon opens 08:00 Pacific on Wednesday 19 August 2026 and runs two weeks to 2 September, with winners announced 8 September. Other distances open first-come on 10 September 2026.
Qualifier applications run 14-18 September 2026 in Athletes' Village and close at 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday 18 September. Registration is not first-come, first-served. The 2027 qualifying window began on 13 September 2025.
Meeting the qualifying standard allows an application; it does not guarantee acceptance. The B.A.A. also describes a random Boston Qualifier Selection for approximately 1,000 eligible applicants who are not faster than the eventual cut-off.

Charity registration is open now, with the organiser stating the deadline to secure a bib is 31 July (year implied by the page's 2026 registration plan). General registration opened 6 April 2026 at 10:00 ET and has passed; the current registration plan contains no lottery.
Last known window: 2026 cycle: priority windows 28 October – 10 November 2025 (previous finishers, active duty, Runners Club), bundles now sold out, and general registration from 6 April 2026.
The former March entry lottery appears only on archived blog pages the organiser marks as event-year-specific — it is not part of the current registration plan, and no 2027 dates are stated. Live official domain is marinemarathon.com.
Official charity teams may accept runners until 15 September 2026 or their own capacity is reached, whichever comes first. The organiser does not state a closing hour. Contact the team to confirm a place before committing.
The published minimum fundraising commitment is USD 2,200; teams may require more. This is separate from the closed 2026 drawing and the unannounced 2027 application window.

No next ballot window is stated on the checked page. Limited charity places are advertised for the 2027 edition; check charity availability and fundraising terms directly. Confirmed runners should check their Let's Do This account and their allocated Saturday or Sunday before booking travel.
Organiser statement: NYRR has not announced the 2027 general drawing dates, guaranteed-entry claim window or non-NYRR time-qualifier application window.
The September 2026 9+1 Pass drawing is a separate pathway: qualifying activity in 2027 can earn entry to the 2028 marathon. It is not an application for the 2027 marathon.
Last known window: For the 2026 race, the guaranteed and non-guaranteed application window ran 21 October to 18 November 2025 and closed at 14:00 US Central; drawing notifications followed on 11 December 2025.
