A race appears in a route-map collection only when raceindex.org has stored route geometry. Elevation, ascent and GAP values appear only when the route has enough elevation-bearing evidence for a publishable profile; unsupported signals are omitted.

Definitions and limits

  • The cohort is the active RaceIndex catalog, with one row per race offering. It is not a census of races or a representative sample of any country or market.
  • Geometry and profile fields describe the race-level route record. This summary does not establish which edition used that route.
  • A profile candidate means the data pipeline found elevation-bearing geometry. Individual metrics may still be withheld by current publication checks.
  • Core metrics are flat share, GAP factor, total ascent and total descent. Their availability is counted without making a course-quality or correctness claim.

Route map questions

What counts as a route map on raceindex.org?

A race appears in this collection only when raceindex.org has stored route geometry for that race entity. Elevation profiles appear only when elevation-bearing geometry supports them.

Why do some race pages not have maps?

Some organisers do not publish a fetchable route file or map source. Those race pages record the route-attempt status instead of inventing a course trace.

Can mapped races still be missing ascent or GAP data?

Yes. A route can have stored geometry without enough elevation-bearing points for a publishable profile. Raceindex.org omits unsupported elevation metrics rather than filling them in.
