The IOP Beach Run 5K route starts at The start and finish line are on the beach directly behind The Windjammer, 1008 Ocean Blvd. Isle of Palms, SC 29451 and finishes at The finish is on the beach behind The Windjammer, 1008 Ocean Blvd. the same spot as the start. Underfoot, expect beach sand. The course runs entirely on the flat, wide, hard-packed beach near low tide rather than on any paved roads. It passes The Windjammer, Isle of Palms beachfront and Atlantic Ocean. The City explicitly states 'All events are held entirely on the flat, wide, hard-packed beach (near low tide),' so the race is scheduled around the tide to give runners firm sand underfoot.
