The practical accommodation answer
Start with Back Bay or the Boston Common/Public Garden edge. Back Bay places you near the Boylston Street finish and the 2026 Hynes Convention Center expo location. The Common edge places you closer to the Charles Street bus loading used for the 2026 journey to Hopkinton. Exact 2027 locations must be checked when the participant guide is released.
Search by an exact door-to-door route, not a neighbourhood label. Compare the walk to the expected bus loading area, the route from the finish exit, access to the eventual expo and the airport connection. A property closest to the painted finish line may still require a longer post-finish route through the controlled area.

Plan the Hopkinton journey before choosing a room
For 2026, the B.A.A. recommended its participant buses to the start. They loaded on Charles Street between Boston Common and the Public Garden, required a participant bib and followed wave-specific times. The last-bus and wave schedule on the current athlete page belongs to 2026 and must not be copied into a 2027 itinerary.
The same 2026 material described very limited participant parking in Hopkinton with a bib-controlled shuttle to Athletes' Village, plus limited return buses after the race. Neither provision is a general hotel transfer or a confirmed 2027 service. Do not book a start-area stay on the assumption that private drop-off, parking, shuttle access or a return seat will work the same way.
Before booking
Map the property to Charles Street as a provisional test. Count the actual entrance, crossings and walking route, then keep the booking changeable until 2027 transport is published.
