The PUMA Salzburg Marathon route starts at Staatsbrücke (State Bridge) over the Salzach in the heart of Salzburg and finishes at Max-Reinhardt-Platz, beside the Great Festival Hall in the old town. Underfoot, expect predominantly paved city streets and riverside paths. It passes Staatsbrücke, Salzach river, Hellbrunner Allee, Hellbrunn Palace and Mirabell Palace. The marathon is the 21.097 km half-marathon loop run twice, starting on the Staatsbrücke and finishing in the old town.
Starter/luggage bags collected and stored in the arcaded inner courtyard of the University of Salzburg; additional luggage storage available for a fee per item. Far-reaching road closures from Nonntal to the Staatsbrücke bring private transport to a standstill during the marathon. 08:30 on Sunday 17 May 2026. Varied live music groups stationed along the running route. Pacemakers for 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00 and 5:15 finish times.
