Underfoot, expect rail-trail: packed dirt and gravel through to cushiony pine-needle-covered dirt with some roots and rocks but mostly non-technical; roughly one mile of each 15-mile out-and-back is paved (through Camp Tevya). It passes two historic railroad tunnels, Granite Town Rail Trail, Camp Tevya, Lake Potanipo and Milford DPW. the race has raised over $350,000 for trail improvements since 2009.
