Tokyo Marathon

For the 2027 edition. Times are local to the race. Your current registration instructions and the organiser’s latest guide take precedence.

Start and finish

The marathon starts at 09:10 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and finishes at Tokyo Station/Gyoko-dori Avenue. The wheelchair marathon starts at 09:05. Source

Eligibility and cut-off

General applicants must be at least 19 and capable of completing the race within 6 hours 30 minutes. On race day the operational cut-off is seven hours from the 09:10 gun, with intermediate cut-off points. Source

Entry fee

Domestic entry is JPY 19,800 and international entry is USD 230. The organiser states that each amount includes the entry fee, handling fee and tax; no currency conversion is applied here. Source

Bib collection

Tokyo Big Sight South Exhibition Halls: 4 and 5 March, 10:00-20:30; 6 March, 10:00-17:30. Attend in person with photo ID; proxy and race-day collection are not permitted. Source

Expo

At the same Tokyo Big Sight venue: 4 and 5 March, 10:00-21:00 with last entry at 20:30; 6 March, 10:00-18:00 with last entry at 17:30. Source

Getting to the start

The official FAQ names Shinjuku Station and Nishi-Shinjuku Station as the closest stations. Detailed access instructions are due in the Runner Handbook in mid-February 2027. Source

Baggage

Baggage check is available only to runners who selected the service during entry. The collection location depends on bib colour and is due in the Runner Guidebook in mid-February 2027. Source

Corral and entry

Start only from your designated corral and wave; changing division after entry is not permitted. If demand exceeds capacity, selection is by drawing and the result appears in My Entry. Source

Fast estimated times

A runner declaring an estimated finish of 3:00 or faster must submit an eligible official marathon or half-marathon record. This is record verification for start placement, not a general marathon entry requirement. Source

After the finish

A designated Meet Area will be available for family and friends; access near the finish line is restricted. Its details are due in the Runner Guide in mid-February 2027. Source

The Runner Guidebook is not due until mid-February 2027, so gate times, detailed station routes, intermediate cut-off points, bib-colour baggage locations and Meet Area details are not yet confirmed here.
