Tokyo Marathon entry, lottery and qualifying routes

Tokyo Marathon 2027 entry is closed. The general application ran from 11:00 JST on 14 August to 17:00 JST on 28 August 2026; results are scheduled for 18 September. Charity, ONE TOKYO member and RUN as ONE applications also closed earlier. If you already applied, use My Entry for the result and payment rather than starting another application.

For a future attempt, choose the route that matches your residence, membership, charity commitment or verified performance. Tokyo prohibits duplicate applications across its member, general and semi-elite routes, and charity applicants cannot apply through another entry category.

Where the 2027 process stands

These dates come from the official 2027 entry schedule. A missed application cannot be repaired by paying the entry fee late. Selected general applicants must complete payment by 17:00 JST on 30 September or the entry becomes void.

Choose one route that you are eligible to use

Tokyo resident applying on the domestic site	General entry with Tokyo resident draw	The 2027 selection sequence reserves a 1,000-place Tokyo resident draw before the remaining general draw.
ONE TOKYO member unsuccessful in 2024, 2025 and 2026	Three-consecutive-unsuccessful challenge	Eligible 2027 member applicants enter a 4,000-place stage before the Tokyo resident and general draws.
Prepared to support a named charity	RUN with HEART charity entry	Apply to a specific charity and meet its selection and donation terms. Charity entry cannot be combined with another 2027 entry category.
Fast runner with an eligible result	RUN as ONE semi-elite	Performance-based application with its own record rules. This is different from submitting a faster estimate for start placement.

Use residence, not passport, to choose the site

The official 2027 FAQ says people living outside Japan should use the English entry site regardless of nationality. A person living in Japan registers a Japanese address. Foreign residents of Japan who use the English site are treated as overseas entrants and pay the overseas fee.

Domestic

ONE TOKYO Premium is the member entry named for domestic applicants. The Tokyo resident drawing applies only to residents of Tokyo who entered through the domestic site.

Overseas

ONE TOKYO GLOBAL is the overseas membership route. The organiser may request proof of overseas residence at packet pickup, so the address used at entry must be accurate.

The separate GLOBAL three-consecutive-unsuccessful challenge begins with Tokyo Marathon 2028. Its published history is 2025, 2026 and 2027 GLOBAL member applications plus continuous membership and a new 2028 member application. It does not create a late route into the 2027 race. RUN as ONE is the actual semi-elite route

For overseas applicants, the official RUN as ONE page requires a gun-time result from a World Athletics Label Road Race between July 2024 and June 2026. The published thresholds are under 2:22:00 for men and under 2:50:00 for women, with an official finisher certificate. The overseas capacity is 25 men and 25 women; if oversubscribed, the fastest applicants are accepted.

An unsuccessful eligible RUN as ONE application transfers automatically to General Entry consideration. That is an organiser-controlled transfer, not permission to submit a duplicate general application.

Separate the entry fee from other commitments

The charity programme had 5,000 places across 41 projects. Each organisation sets selection details; acceptance is not secured merely by naming the general floor. The official charity information and organisation page control the actual commitment.

Optional baggage and programme-specific membership, travel or virtual-event costs are separate. Compare only the costs attached to your chosen route and never treat a commercial tour as official unless it appears in the organiser's current partner material.

What to do next

If you entered the general draw

Check My Entry on 18 September. If selected, pay by 17:00 JST on 30 September and save the confirmation. Do not rely on email alone.

If you missed every window

Do not book on the assumption that a late place will appear. Follow the official schedule for any announced organiser opportunity and build a future-year plan from the route you can actually use.

If you have a confirmed place

Save the exact 7 March 2027 edition, then move from entry planning to travel, training and race-week requirements.
